Evette Atkin Presents Second Life Program Nov. 8 at MLA

MLC librarian, Evette Atkin, is presenting a program at the MLA Conference this week titled, "Bringing Second Life into Your First Life: Expanding Your Library’s – and Librarians’ – Reach Beyond the Physical Plane."

Thursday, November 8, 10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Lansing Center, Room: 205
Program description: Libraries continuously need to find ways both to reach their patrons and to keep their staff up-to-date on the latest in library innovation. Second Life provides an excellent means of reaching the gamer generation, the tech savvy geeks, and those unable to use physical library facilities. It also allows librarians to network instantly and to collaborate, keeping all involved current with the latest library trends. Attendees will learn what Second Life is, about networking and other cool stuff available to libraries in Second Life, what other libraries are doing in Second Life, and the benefits of your library having a presence in Second Life.

Other MLC staff presentations at the MLA Conference this week include MeL presentations (see the MeL Blog for details) and Evergreen open-source ILS demos at the MLC Booth (see Evergreen blog for details).
